Connor asked for three similar offences to be taken into consideration. But he
denied going through the bags, insisting the handsets were lost and handed to
him. Elaine Keen, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said at least two of the

handsets by a second-hand phone company. Mrs Keen said the police traced the man
who had brought the company the phone – and he turned out to be a friend of
Connor's. The court heard the friend said he had bought the phone from Connor,
who told him it was damaged and needed to be repaired. Mrs Keen said police
searched Connor's flat and found 'a number of phones'. She added that three of

staff would pass the phones to him at work and he would call out for their
owners. He admitted then selling them to friends. Probation officer Bernie Ross,
presenting a report on his background, said: "He took the phones and tried to
sell them, greed got the better of him. " She added he had worked at the club

the club. " But he added: "In his defence, over the past 12 months he has handed
in a lot of lost phones. " Magistrates gave Connor a 12-month community order
