Introducing Delvaux
SELFRIDGES has a new favourite handbag label -Delvaux. While it's still a little-known name to the majority of shoppers, the brand is the oldest luxury goods company in the world - having been founded in 1829.

"This is without question one of the most exciting accessories launches for Selfridges this season," the store's buying director, Sebastian Manes, told us. "Selfridges accessories hall has evolved a lot over the last few years, with a growing focus on a more luxury offering. We see a lot of potential in the Delvaux brand and, as well as an incredible history; the collections cater for our fashion-savvy customers."
The label's focus is creating timelessly elegant styles, made using high-quality leathers and finishes. The Belgian fashion house is helmed by a team of designers, rather than one singular creative director - who all value, as the brand's product and merchandising director Christina Zeller says, "tradition, mastery, excellence and discipline".
"We are the only label that could claim to pay the same attention to the inside of a bag as to the outside," said Zeller. "We do not pretend to be fashion or running after young customers. We are timeless, but never boring, and know how to stay contemporary."

Although Zeller maintains that flash handbag trends are not a priority, Delvaux styles will still appear to a younger audience - or so says Manes.
"The classic, recognisable shapes like the Brillant are already very popular, and for the launch we will offer some exclusive colour combinations never seen before," adds Manes. "The beautiful modern styles like the Madame are so chic and will also appeal to our younger customers. All of the pieces are so beautifully made; you really have to see them to appreciate the craftsmanship."
